AppSciComm does trivia!

In August 2024, Pittsburgh and Knoxville-based members of AppSciComm got together to play pub trivia. Here is how it went.

AppSciComm's Knoxville contingent came to play at last night's trivia night at Orange Hat Brewery! We got all 10 questions in the first half. Lulled into a false sense of security, questions about Rob Lowe, Blake Lively, and Brian Cox felled us in the second half. And we made poor "bet it all" choice on a final question about collegiate football that none of the 18 teams got right. Alas, there were no science questions to redeem us. All told, we had fun, and we'll be back!

AppSciComm's Pittsburgh contingent made a respectable showing at last night's trivia night! We finished 6th out of 14 teams -- BEAT THAT TENNESSEE!! 😁 Our team knew that hamburger was stuffed into gelatin mold to make a head explosion more gruesome in Scanners. We correctly named Icarus as a doping scandal movie in the run-up to the Olympics. And, in true science fashion, we were the only team to identify 'caudal' as another term for 'tail fin'.
